The IFC held the second in its series of Ethical Finance roundtables at Tods Murray’s offices in Edinburgh on 2nd November 2011. David Cousland Scotland Regional Manager of Triodos Bank presented on key issues in ethical lending which prefixed a discussion on measuring social returns.
This was followed up by a presentation from money reformists, Ben Dyson of Positive Money and Alistair McConnachie of the James Gibb Stuart Trust. They highlighted the issues faced by the current monetary system and proposed a solution to democratise the creation of money which lead to an engaging and lively roundtable discussion.
Other participants at the Ethical Roundtable included representatives from The Church of Scotland, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, University of Glasgow, Glasgow City Council, IFS, KKMJ, Church of Scotland Ministries Council and Transformation team, amongst others.
The IFC initiated the exclusive limited series of Ethical Finance Roundtables following feedback from its conference in 2010. The purpose is to explore similarities, promote synergies and better coordination between the providers of ethical finance within Scotland.
